Sports Recovery Massage: Boost Healing, Circulation, and Performance

The Power of a Sports Recovery Massage

How To Feel Better and Move Better In Your Body and Your Activities

If you are an active adult living in the Denver area you have likely heard that a sports recovery massage may do you some wonders. Do you want to know how you can maintain doing all of the things you love for longer? If so, then we at KinetikChain Denver have the answers for you!

Whether your days include a casual stroll around Wash Park with your dog, an early morning 14er hike, or tackling the slopes on the weekend, your body endures a lot. And while we love your dedication to staying active, sometimes pains and stiffness develop with that level of activity.   We don’t love the idea that you may be experiencing aches, pains, and tight spots. That’s where our sports recovery massages come in! We’re not talking about those fluffy spa massages where you’re drinking cucumber water and listening to Enya.  Those are great for stress and relaxation for our mind.  But what if we could get the benefits of those spa massages with the focused muscle and movement benefits of a sports massage.  Our massages are all about focused and efficient bodywork that are tailored to help you recover quicker, move more freely, and keep enjoying your favorite activities.

Why Our Sports Recovery Massage Stands Out:

At KinetikChain Denver, we don’t just go into your massage blindly by pressing and hoping for the best. All of our sports recovery massages begin with a thorough intake process and a mobility assessment so that we can determine exactly what your body needs, because every body is different. To us it’s not just about making you feel better – it’s about helping you move better, recover faster, and perform better than ever for the long haul. We do all of the work for you and dig in (pun intended) to the root of what’s keeping you from moving forward.  Once we find that we are off to the races in helping you move and recover faster than ever.

Our therapists use a tailored approach to your sports recovery massage through the use of different massage techniques, including:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Sports recovery work
  • Hot stones
  • Trigger point therapy
  • CBD
  • Myofascial release & stretching
  • Cupping
  • And other expert level sports recovery techniques

Here’s the real kicker: we can integrate your massage with physical therapy, chiropractic care, fascial stretch therapy, red light therapy, compression therapy, and sports performance training if needed. We’re experts in not only sports recovery massage, but how to blend them with other therapies to get you the most out of recovery whether that be sports, injury, or just tightness.

Who We Help:

Do you fall into one or more of the following categories?

  • Weekend warrior and recreational athlete looking to enhance their performance

  • Active adult recovering from injury
  • Active adult experience muscle soreness or mobility issues
  • A curious person looking to boost their performance and prevent injuries
  • Someone looking to recover faster after hard workouts

If you said “hey, that’s me!” to any of those then good news! Our sports recovery massages are perfect for you. Keep reading to better understand why our massages work, how often you should see your massage therapist, and what to expect from your session.

Why Massage Works (Even if You Don’t Know Why):

Besides leaving you feeling lighter than air, sports recovery massages offer numerous benefits. Focused recovery massages help to promote and direct blood flow exactly where it is needed, help to enhance your immune system, and assist in stress management. Our massages can also boost mental clarity, which contributes to a better focus and helps you mentally recover faster as well.  The deep tissue work commonly associated with a sports recovery massage aids the circulatory system. A stronger circulatory system not only flushes out metabolic wastes from workouts, but can lead to faster recovery times as more nutrients are transported through the blood to your muscles.

As a result, you can approach your next activity with confidence, able to go longer with less fatigue and metabolic waste holding you back. Massage also works by alleviating delayed muscle soreness and tension from any activities and daily life by providing increased range of motion and flexibility, allowing you to move those muscles further and access more of your muscles potential. So with a good sports massage you can move farther, easier, faster without tightness and pain.  Can you imagine what having shorter recovery times in between your outings or workouts would mean for you? Sports recovery massages are the key to opening up your body’s true potential.

How Often Should You Get A Sports Massage?  How Long Should Should a Good Sports Massage Be?

Do you feel you’re someone who holds onto tension faster and longer? Or have you noticed while being active you have trouble spots that are nagging at you than you’d prefer? Every person and every body is going to be different depending on your goals, but if you are active ideally we suggest coming in for a sports massage every 2 to 4 weeks depending on your activity level. We also want to be mindful of how much you want to accomplish when it comes to recovery.

At the beginning of your recovery journey you may want to start with coming once every two weeks, or you may want to start off with longer sessions of 90 minutes or 120 minutes to accomplish working out all of the areas we find that are needing attention. For those who have one or two trouble areas we suggest a 60 minute massage session. This allows us to focus on getting those particular spots loosened up. For our active adults with multiple pain/tension points we suggest beginning with a 90 minute massage in order to spend more time on everywhere you need to loosen up and hit any trouble areas twice. These longer sessions ensure your therapist is able to accurately and successfully hit every specific area with targeted work.

For everyone we work with, we believe that incorporating a sports recovery massage into your routine at least once a month is an excellent way to flush out metabolic waste and improve performance in the activities you love. Our therapists take pride in helping you see how easily (and how amazing) a routine sports recovery massage can be integrated into your active lifestyle, tailoring your appointments to the time and duration that works best for you and your body.

What to Expect From a Session:

We understand whether you’re completely new to body work or new to us that you may not know what we have planned when we see you, so we want to give you a brief glimpse into how we make a session successful for each person. Your therapist will start by assessing and going over the areas we need to focus on and how best to approach them for you while keeping you involved and informed. We will ask what movements you want help with and through movement assessments determine the best way to improve your motion and recovery.  From there we will step out allowing you to dress down to whatever level is comfortable for you. Once you’re on the table you can expect to relax and disengage your mind and body while we focus on those stiff and sticky spots.

We do all the work for you to help flush those muscles and promote muscle recovery. We’ll work with you to help you build a routine that is not only centered around your needs but a routine that is focused on the areas that require the most attention. Every body is different, and every day is different which is why every time you come in for your appointment we will go through this same process because we want you to leave here feeling like you got exactly what your body needed in order to go out and crush the day.
